Enrolment

Enrolments are always welcome at St Mel's
Enrolment
We are always ready to accept a new enrolment be it Kinder or Year Six...

Enrolment Procedure
Enrolments are always welcome at St Mel's, however enrolment acceptance is subject to the availability of places at the given time.
If you wish to enrol your child at St Mel's we encourage you to make an appointment to speak to us on:
(03) 58213163.

A school tour would be most welcomed and an interview to get to know you and your child would be anticipated.
Enrolment Forms and documents can be accessed in the downloads section.

For Prep Year (Foundation) Enrolments:
Enrolments for 2021 will CLOSE on the last day of Term 3 2021, September 18.
Children's enrolments will be accepted in the following order:
  1. The child is Catholic and has an older brother or sister at St. Mel's Primary School
  2. The child is Catholic and attended St. Mel's Kindergarten
  3. The child is Catholic
  4. The child has a brother or sister currently attending St. Mel's Primary School
  5. All other enrolments
All Catholic schools in Shepparton are zoned. In order to enrol at St. Mel's, students need to live south of High St/ Benalla Rd. If a family moves out of this zoned area, they can remain at the school if they wish too.

Students who live within the zoned area of St. Mel's and wish to attend a different Catholic Primary School, must prove exceptional circumstances exist and must make contact with their zoned school and their Parish Priest.

We ask that all Prep enrolment applications be submitted by no later than the last day of Term Two.
Enrolment Interviews will take place in Term Three, where the new Prep child and parent meet with the principal to get to know each other better and a school tour to familiarise the child with St Mel's.
Enrolments will be confirmed by the first week of Term Four.

VALUING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
We value and celebrate diversity, especially cultural diversity, and we do not tolerate discriminatory practices. To achieve this we:
  • promote the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of Aboriginal students and their families
  • promote the cultural safety, participation and empowerment from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) and their families
  • promote the personal safety, participation and empowerment of students with a disability and make them feel welcome and part of all aspects of school life

Enrolment Forms for Kindergarten, School and OSHC and other information can be found in the downloads section on this site.
